WV Educational Technology Ranks at the Top of the Class
Charleston, WV – West Virginia is aging with grace. According to Technology Counts 2007: A Digital Decade, educational technology access and the use of technology in West Virginia public schools are among the best in the nation.

Technology Counts 2008
West Virginia’s school technology policies and implementation strategies are among the best in the nation according to Technology Counts 2008: STEM, The Push to Improve Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The state received an overall score of 95.3 on the report, which ranks West Virginia at the top of the class for its use of technology.

Response to Intervention Project
Franklin Elementary School was selected this past summer (2007) by the WW Department of Education to implement the Response to Intervention Program. The 3-Tier Reading Model is a scientific, research-based "prevention" model that provides an instructional framework for delivering assessment-driven, differentiated instruction to all students, including students at risk for and students with reading difficulties. No Child Left Behind
 
On Jan. 8, 2002, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) was signed into law It contains sweeping changes to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that was passed in 1965.

This act changes the federal government's role in K-12 education by asking America's schools to describe their success in terms of what each student accomplishes. Visit the WV NCLB Web site.
 
NCLB Report Card for PC Schools
 
As part of the NCLB federal legislation, states must furnish annual report cards showing a range of information, including student-achievement data broken down by subgroups and information on the performance of school districts.

WV Report Card
 
The WV Report Card is a composite of data submitted by the county schools each year to the WV Dept. of Education.

It includes standardized test results, broken down by grade and school and much other data for comparative purposes.

After tabulating the most recent statistics as provided by the WV Department of Education, the WV Higher Education Policy Commission and the Community and Technical College System of WV, a formula was created by higher and secondary education professionals to rank each public school in WV, balancing each of the aforementioned areas of concern equally.
