WESTEST 12 - 16 May for County Students
WESTEST will be give to all county students grades 3 - 8
and grade 10 the week of May 12th. Here are some tips to help

Pendleton County Schools to Conduct Preschool Screenings
PCS will conduct developmental screenings May 14 from 9:00
to 11:00 a.m. at the PCS Annex on High Street in Franklin.
These screenings are for 3 year olds and for any 4 year olds
not registered for preschool the coming school year.
All 4-year-old children enrolled for preschool will be screened
in vision, hearing, speech & language, and early childhood
development during the first weeks of school at their respective
schools.

Franklin Elementary School:
28 April 9:00 - 12:00
Brandywine Elementary School: 8 May 1:00 - 3:00
North Fork Elementary School: 21 May 8:30 - 12:00

Dwell on what children do right instead of what they
do wrong.

Let youth know you are proud of their talents, capabilities
and discoveries.
Listen when young people talk about their sense of
purpose in life.
Ask young people what they are passionate about.

registration for your child, held the second week of March,
please contact the Board office for assistance. Click

BES Renovation & Replacement
The
West Virginia School Building Authority funded $4.9 million
dollars for the renovation and replacement of Brandywine Elementary
School at its quarterly meeting held 26 March 2007 in Charleston.
An additional $618,478 was funded at the June meeting, bringing
the project total to $5,548,027. The project began in the Summer
of 2007. Phase 1 was completed on March 11, 2008. Students and
staff moved into the new section on March 12. The project will
be fully completed during the 2008-2009 school year. The project
began this summer and will be fully completed by the fall of

Response to Intervention Project
Franklin Elementary School
was selected this past summer by the West Virginia Department
of Education to implement the Response to Intervention Program.The
3-Tier Reading Model is a scientific, research-based "prevention"
model that provides an instructional framework for delivering
assessment-driven, differentiated instruction to all students,
including students at risk for and students with reading difficulties.READ MORE about

AMBER VIEW
The
Amber View Project is a pilot biometrics program under development
by the West Virginia High Technology Consortium (WVHTC) Foundation
in Fairmont (WV) and is designed to aid in the recovery of
missing or abducted children.
Itis
the fifth largest county in the state and, with slightly over
8,000 residents, is the second most sparsely populated county
in West Virginia.
