Beyond Productions, Australia's largest television production
company, visited Franklin Elementary School to film students participating
in the Dance Dance Revolution program (DDR).
Dance Dance Revolution is under the direction of Mrs. Frisky Lambert,
FES physical education teacher.
The filming was part of Beyond Production's science and health
program's "What's Good for You."
Beyond Productions filmed a PE class and the after-school
DDR club. This 40-member club meets each Thursday after school.
Students were asked when interviewed how they liked DDR, if they
had a choice between running and DDR which would they choose or
is they were made to do it. A PE class was taped to show how this
program was incorporated in a classroom situation. Excerpts will
be aired on Australian Discovery Channel.
FES benefited by receiving some new equipment, new
music and dance pads. After receipt of the new equipment, the
Dance club learned to add hand movement along with their feet.
The Dance Club members now also play drum pads. They look forward
to learning new moves with their new equipment.
DDR is also used as part of the end-of-the-month
reward incentives at Franklin Elementary School. Students really
enjoy this program and are gaining exercise in a fun way.
