Hoover Receives Award from ASCD

RESA's Region VIII ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) recently awarded Olin Hoover a plaque in recognition of his "hard work and dedication" for school staff development in Pendleton County Schools in the five years (1996-2001) he served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction.


During that time, Mr. Hoover was also the County Director of Transportation and Director of Federal Programs. From 1980 to 1996, he was the principal at Franklin High School.


RESA VIII ASCD recognized Mr. Hoover for his work in the development of local classroom instruction when new curriculum trends emerged.



He additionally was recognized for cross-county collaboration with all six RESA VIII counties in skills assessment so that classroom instruction would meet changing needs in the private sector and in the military.

Hoover also spearheaded the development of a countywide emergency contingency plan which was assembled before 911. He directed the creation of Safe School plans for every school in the county.


After attending high school in Franklin, Mr. Hoover attended West Virginia University for two years and then earned his Undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree from James Madison University majoring in Geology with a minor in Education. He went on to obtain a Master's of Education degree in School Administration from James Madison University in 1976.
