This is a summary of the NFES PTSO Constitution
to explain what the organization does.
Name of Organization - The
name of of the this organization is NFES Parent-Teacher-Student
Organization.
Purpose - The
main purpose of the NFES PTSO is to work for the improvement of
NFES. All activities of the PTSO shall be aimed at school improvement.
At no time, under under any circumstances, will the PTSO engage
in any activity that would lend itself to micro-management of
NFES. The PTSO will sponsor programs that encourage parent involvement
and school improvement.
Membership - Members
can be any parent of a current or former student at NFES, or any
current or former faculty or staff member at NFES. Any person
who doesn't fit into either of these categories may request membership.
Current or former students at NFES are also eligible to be members.
Officers - The officers
shall consist of a president, a vice-president, a secretary and
a treasurer.
Election of Officers and
Term of Office - Officers will be elected for one school
year. Candidates for each office will be nominated at the March
meeting and voted on at the May meeting. A majority vote of the
members present at the May meeting is required for election to
office. Newly elected officers will begin their term August 15th
of the school year they are elected.
Executive Committee
- The Executive Committee will be composed of the officers, the
principal, a member of the Student Council, a teacher and a member
of the LSIC.
Committees - The
president may establish special committees.
Meetings - PTSO
meetings will be scheduled for October, December, March and May.
The Executive Committee will meet in September, November, January
or February and April. Special meetings may be called by the president.
Audit of Finances
- All financial records of the PTSO will be subject to an annual
audit. The auditor's report will be presented to the Executive
Committee at its September meeting and to the membership at its
October meeting.
