SPECIAL REPORT: Annual WV
Report Ranking of West Virginias Best Public High Schools, 2007-2008.
After tabulating the most recent statistics as provided by the WV
Department of Education, the WV Higher Education Policy Commission
and the Community and Technical College System of WV, a formula was
created by higher and secondary education professionals to rank each
public school in WV, balancing each of the aforementioned areas of

| September 2006 - New
Teachers |
Cathy Bennett is from Pendleton County. She went to Franklin High
School and then afterwards went to Bridgewater College. She teaches
Algebra I, Pre-calculus, Applied Geometry, Geometry, Trigonmetry and
Applied Math II. She now has 7 years of experience. |
John Lawson teaches high school and middle school
health and middle school PE. He attended West Virginia University.
He now has 14 years of experience. He has a genuine passion for school,
teaching, and the welfare and learning of each child he has the privilege
to work with. |
Kitty Carson teaches Home Economics here at Pendleton County High
School. She is a native of Pendleton County and graduated from Franklin
High School and afterward went on to Marshall University were she
got her degree in Vocational Home Economics. She then completed 15
graduate level classes at West Virginia University. She now has 15
years of experience. She is very excited
to have the opportunity to teach again in Pendleton County particularly
at Pendleton County Middle - High School in her field. |
Amanda Brennan
is from Petersburg, West Virginia. She has a degree from Alderson-Broaddus
College in elementary education with a specialization in science grades
5 - 9. She teaches science at Pendleton County Middle School and has
one year of experience. |
| Septeber
2006 - Soccer Team |
This
year marks the inaugural season for the Pendleton County High School
soccer team. High school soccer is a fast-paced sport which requires
top physical conditioning to be successful. Fifteen high school students
tried out and all 15 made the team due to their top physical condition
and exceptional ball skills. Most of the players that make up the
Wildcat team have been playing together for many years in an AYSO
recreational league. The newcomers are adapting quickly to the style
of play.
The Wildcats opened up the season against Buckhannon Upshur at their
home field August 22. The 'Cats have their hands full with a tight
schedule. See calendar for schedule.

2005 - FFA Trip |
The
Future Farmers of America (FFA) went to the 78th National FFA Convention
in Indianapolis, Indiana. Five members attended. The theme was "Living
to Serve." The opening Session was given by Amanda Gore, a motivational
speaker from Australia. The FFA celebrated its 40-year anniversary,
combining with the NFA the African American version of FFA.
It was also the 75th anniversary of the FFA Creed. Wednesday night
was the Bull Bash, which had 16 riders, one of whom won $10,000. The
attendees were entertained by the National FFA band and chorus, directed
by Joe & Patti LaJoye.
New FFA National officers were elected and there was a Career Show
that offered numerous job opportunities. A select number of colleges
were there as well. The convention was able to be viewed on RFD TV.

| October 2005 - Miss PCHS
Beauty Pageant |

The
8th annual Miss Pendleton County High School Beauty Pageant was
held at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2005, in the John M. Dice
Field House at Pendleton County High School.
Twenty-five Pendleton County High School students
participated in the contest, with Mr. David Basagic serving as the
master of ceremonies for the night.
The girls were escorted by four Junior Class boys.
Entertainment for the evening included three vocal selections and
three clog dance varieties.
After a lengthy debate, the judges decided on the
Top Ten contestants, who were required to answer a question in front
of the audience.
From this round, fourth, third, second, and first runners-up were
selected. Miss Pendleton County High School 2006 was sophomore Allison.
Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic and Miss Crowd Favorite were
also selected.
Piano accompaniment was provided by the talented
Ms. Sharon Granofsky. The Miss PCHS Beauty Pageant is an annual
fundraiser for the Junior Class.
