PomPom and Megaphone

Hello and welcome to PCMHS Cheer!

For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Rebecca Miller. I am currently the Middle School cheer coach, but will be doing activities with both the high school and middle school over the summer. I have lots of things planned for this summer! Below is the list of dates that I have so far!

June 13-July 1:

3 Weeks of organized practice. I will have 2 sessions. One will be for high school and one will be for middle school. As soon as I work out the times, I will let you know for sure. Please note: I cannot make this a requirement, but I strongly recommend attending these. This will help develop skills and get a good jumpstart on the next season. Also, it will allow everyone to get to know each other better.

June 21-23-9 am to 4 pm OR July 19-21:

JMU is hosting a cheer camp for K5 and up. This is also not a requirement, but just an idea to get a jump start on next season. This is from their website:

"The All Skills Camp is recommended for current or future middle and high school cheerleaders, age K5 and up, that want to learn the fundamental skills of cheerleading. Each camper will get to experience stretching, motions, stunting, tumbling progressions and drills.

"Camp will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, including a lunch break from 12:00-1:00 pm. All campers are required to bring their own lunch.

"Registration will be at 8:30 am on June 21st. For those of you that may need to drop off your campers around work schedules, we will have the gym open from 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

"This camp is open to any and all applicants. We will be capping the camp at 100 campers.

"GO DUKES!"

August 1:

First day of practice for high school

August 8:

First day of practice for middle school

August 17-18 (Time to Be Determined):

Stunt Clinic. We will have an outside choreographer come in to work with us on stunting skills. It will be $70 per cheerleader. It will be capped at 30, with high school being considered first. The reason for this is that I can have the high school students teach the middle school ones what they learned at the camp.

I am looking forward to starting the next season with your athlete! Please remember that I will need an updated physical form prior to letting your athlete participate. They must be dated after May 1, 2022. Should you need to contact me, my cell phone number is (304) 668-3497. I will start up a messenger group of some sort prior to starting the season, but for right now, my cell phone is the best way to reach me. I will not communicate with the athlete directly, even if they have a cell phone. All communications will be through the parents. Please reach out if you have any questions!
