A great learning opportunity for our 4th graders at the Agriculture Lab this week!

Miss West Virginia America, Karrington Childress, visited our school Monday! She volunteered at the West Virginia Farm Bureau's Mobile Agriculture Lab, where students in grades K-2 learned about which parts of plants we eat through a story with puppetry and vegetable and fruit stamping to make a bookmark.

6th grade went to the KMI Planetarium where we had a presentation on how black holes are formed. We then went to the JMU Arboretum where we had a tour of the wetland, pond, and discussed the food chain in the arboretum.

6th grader Vaylee Harper worked on this doll house with Ms. Sites, she learned about architectural features and the basics of construction.

Pre-KA had a blast bowling!

2nd Grade had their own Field Day...Shoe-Tying race, hula-hoop contest, Frisbee Toss, Wet Sponge race and Great weather!☀️

Fourth grade students enjoyed a field trip to the Smoke Hole Caverns, where they gem mined and toured the caverns!

FES had a "School's Almost Out" spirit week. Each day the students had fun dressing up for a specific theme. Today we gave away some special prizes to end the week!

On Thursday, May 16, 2024, 3rd grade took their annual field trip to the New Market Battlefield in New Market, Virginia. The FES 3rd graders read the novel, "The Ghost Cadet" by Elaine M. Alphin, which prompted them to choose the battlefield as their field trip.

Kindergarten Mother's Moments, KA and KB celebrated Mother's Day with an afternoon workshop, art project, gifts, and refreshments sponsored by Title I, CIS, and family support services.
