Summer School 2026 students and staff finished their last week with an art project, a visit to the Pendleton County Public Library for story time, and a visit from DNR K-9 Unit. PC Schools wants to say a huge THANK YOU to all our community partners for volunteering time for the students. Thank you to all summer school staff, parents, and students, we are already looking ahead to Summer 2027!

Pendleton County 2026 Summer School was as busy as ever!! Students have been building experiences with story painting and creating, writing about experiences to help build word knowledge, and puppet shows for retelling. The students have worked on foundational skills to develop reading and writing skills. Staff and students have worked hard and had some slime brain breaks. PC Schools wants to say Thank You to our summer school staff: Cook, Custodian, Bus Drivers, and Teachers, this would not be possible without any of you. A big Thank You to parents and students for participating in our program.

Pendleton County Energy Express is a FREE summer reading and arts program, which also includes some STEM education. Students are sent home each week with a book around the weekly topic, which is focused on Myself, Family, Friends, Home place, Community, and making our world a better place. It also ensures that students in the program have at least 2 meals a day throughout the 6-week summer program. Thank you to everyone that makes this program possible for Pendleton County, our volunteers, bus drivers, staff, and our community partners. Lots of learning combined with lots of fun equals a wonderful summer!

Pendleton County Schools is happy to announce our support for all Public Schools in West Virginia.

The enrollment period for student transfers is currently open. Students who wish to transfer schools must submit their requests by June 30. The transfer request form can be found online at https://www.pendletoncountyschools.com/page/in-out-of-county-transfers.

Administration is aware of the recent arrest of classroom teacher Madison Day. The criminal charges, if true, are wholly unacceptable and contrary to every expected behavior of a school employee.

Day, as required by state school personnel law, was immediately removed from her teaching job and extracurricular contracts when school administration initiated an investigation.

Appropriate personnel action will continue to be taken regarding Days’ employment status, but please understand personnel laws at this time prevent administration from being specific as to what the next step is, as employees are entitled to due process. However, Day is not and will not be in any classroom. In the near future and after following appropriate due process steps, administration will be making recommendations regarding Days’ employment to the Pendleton County Board of Education.

The West Virginia Department of Education has also been notified and it is anticipated that the WVDE will also take appropriate steps, such as immediately suspending Days’ teaching license given the pending criminal action.

The school system will make no further comments given the pending criminal action.
