We were delighted to welcome local author Ginny Neil to our school yesterday! She read her newest book, Salamander Song, to students in grades 1 through 6.
Afterwards, Mrs. Neil led a fun and educational habitat and graphing activity with our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classes.
We love having Mrs. Neil with us and are already looking forward to her return next year—after the release of her next book!

Don't forget tomorrow, Wednesday, November 12th, is "Bank at School. Please make sure your student brings some money to deposit if they have an account. It is not too late to sign up. You can still submit their application, and they can make a deposit. There is no minimum deposit amount.

Today we recognized and honored the veterans with students at FES by hosting a breakfast in their honor. Kindergarten students created artwork to express gratitude and appreciation for the veterans’ service and sacrifice.

It was brought to our attention that youth small shirts were not included on the FSA shirt fundraiser order form. Please note that this size is available for purchase. We apologize for any confusion.

Attendance winners!

FSA Meeting

🎉 Celebrating Student Success! 🎉
Yesterday, we held our End-of-the-First-Nine-Weeks Awards Ceremony, and what a wonderful celebration it was! Parents joined us to recognize and cheer on our hardworking students.
We honored students who earned A Honor Roll, A/B Honor Roll, Top AR Readers, Citizenship, and Perfect Attendance. Students in grades 4–6 also received special recognition for their success on last year’s state testing.
We are so proud of all our students and the progress they are making each day. 🌟 Please take a moment to celebrate your student — whether they received a certificate or not — because they work hard every single day to learn, grow, and do their best!

Who can resist a big pile of leaves? 🍂 Not our FES Kindergarteners! After their bowling alley reward, they spotted the perfect pile and got permission from Barb Hamilton to jump right in. Lots of giggles, smiles, and a few leaves in their hair! Thanks to Main Street UMC and Barb for the fall fun!

Last Wednesday, our Pre-K and Kindergarten students dressed up in their Halloween costumes and walked through town to trick-or-treat. They loved getting all the goodies! A big thank-you to all the businesses that participated.

Fourth graders enjoying some bowling and skating!

Last week, we celebrated Red Ribbon Week! This year’s theme was “Life is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free.” Each day, students dressed up for a special theme to promote healthy choices and school spirit.
We were honored and excited to welcome Caid Kincaide, the WVU Mountaineer, to FES. He spoke with students about some of the things he does as the Mountaineer mascot and the importance of attending school regularly and staying drug-free.
Students also designed creative posters reflecting this year’s theme. The entries were impressive, and selecting the winners was no easy task!

And the winner is….. 1st grade with 1,118 paper links. FES has had such a fun time with our spirit link fundraiser. With the help of all of our families, the school raised approximately $1,600! WOW! This money will directly benefit our students.
We would like to thank all of our families for donating money. Our grandma, Ms. Dianne for cutting ALL of those paper chains, and our FSA officers and members for counting money and stapling chains each day after school.
Parents, please consider reaching out to an FSA officer to get involved. It takes many hands to pull off a fundraiser even as simple as this one.

Great costumes at FES today!
